Flywheel resurface or replace?

The Turbo factory manual shows the bearings on the clutch control shaft. If by fork shaft you are referring to the clutch control shaft, then, yeah.
Also, the factory manual talks of some tape in place to help get the mechanism/hardware back together. The tech told me reassembling everything was a bit "fiddly".

I think you are smart. I would not change to a single mass flywheel. The dual mass flywheel is quite small and relatively light. Besides it serves in some capacity as a crankshaft dampener.

I got the transmission bolted back to the engine, now awaiting my new oil tank. The shaft in the fork was a bit of a futz, but not too bad. In the meantime, I'm going to tackle the rest of the GT2 slave conversion.

I cheated by taking out the engine with the transmission. I have mad respect for those who have managed this while laying under their car. I will wear my expert badge with pride!

I had just read through a fairly long post about this very subject and vibration rattling the transmission internals. This website is pretty amazing when you think about the amount of information being stored and passed along.

At some point I noticed this rattle was gone. I don't know if it was after I had the O2 sensors replaced at 132K miles -- one was tripping the CEL but the engine was running fine -- or after (at around 140K miles) I had the coils and plugs changed -- just for grins as there were no signs of any issues with the coils or plugs and in fact the plugs were around 10K miles from being due to be replaced but the tech advised changing them while he was there and I agreed.
After new sensors and then again after new coils/plugs the engine ran noticeably better. That it ran better after new sensors was kind of a surprise but the engine running better after new coils and plugs were installed really surprised me. I had had the plugs changed several times before on miles and the engine never reacted so I attribute the improvement in how the engine ran to the new coils.
In any case as I said the rattle was gone and remained absent when I sold the car at 161K miles.

i don't think i'll have to do this again lol

A rented lift sounds like a luxury item. I had to endure a few wtf are we doing comments from my gf getting the car high enough to slide the engine out. But with slow deliberation we did it.
That stupid $99 craftsman ATV/motorcycle lift didn't hold pressure, so we had a few uncontrolled descents of the engine to the next stop. Good times.
964PP/098disc clutch is in, gt2 slave is complete, now I am waiting for the new oil tank to arrive.

With the 10 hours it take to R&R the clutch, i would not put it back together with a DMFW with more than a few miles on it. Cheap insurance. I think mine is going out as it makes the car have sort of the jump under both acceleration and deceleration at very slight throttle settings. Almost seems like a stumble, but it is getting worse and is staring to feel like more of a mechanical jump rather that an engine hiccup.
I've always replaced the fork bearings, plastic cups and T/O bearing doing the clutch, cheap insurance. If you're running a higher clamp force PP, I think the T/O bearing is a wear/time out item too.
Had an ear snap off my bearing at the track year before last and decided to go GT2 set-up after that while I had it apart again,

you should be good. when i did this all i replaced after looking at parts removed was the plate and the unsprung gt2 disc. all has been perfect since then, now at least 50k miles later. i only use the clutch to shift.. and i always double clutch by force of habit. call that "once had 2nd gear popout" paranoia lol
