05 turbo S cab build thread!!

Well I got a deal I could not pass up on a Turbo S, I am no lover of cabs' But the misses is.. The S comes with the x50 k24's turbos so doing the tried and true 18g wheels were a no brainier. This will be a 93 oct car (no corn) daily driven. It needs to have great performance and street manners. I should have dyno'ed it but honestly I did not even get plates on it and it is already under the knife!!! I do have the ability to tune the 966 platform but seeing what ESmotors is doing I decided to go with them on this car. Dyno will be posted.

Here is the parts list

My fuel pump mod with walbro 525

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...pic-heavy.html

going to fab fender well intakes

ID1050X injectors
Do88 intercoolers
K24/18g upgrade
turbosmart wg
Kline exhaust 2.5 catless
ESmotors mafless tune
sachs 2.5 clutch
997 update coils
Bosch F5DP0R plugs

I am on the fence with going to a 75mm T/B with a IPD plenum and building a wye pipe at this time but it is not ruled out yet (maybe a install and test on the the dyno?). I Have not been working on cars for years and closed all my accounts so I rang up Mark@AIM and feel like I owe him dinner, within two days parts were showing up at my office and I got great pricing.

Nice- going with dual mass flywheel or single 4.0 style? Is there a good 18billet option these days?

eds996tt 04-18-2019 06:42 AM

Curious why Do88 intercoolers ? I'm looking at that option as well. Not sure how they compare to gt2rs intercoolers other than they bolt right on. Hence simple Mods for track use.

1. Icm-200-996 which go straight on with the supplied hoses. Perhaps some simple trimming Mods.

2. larger 997 intercoolers for 997 only as supplied, Not sure what Mods need to be done to fit these to 996 tt.

I'm interested to see what kind of numbers ESmotors will get out of it. They are somehow pulling big numbers without blowing off heads or snapping rods on pump. I'm running the Blouch built 18g billets. Those intercoolers look like bar and plates so they will be better for drag racing or highway pulls and the GT2RS intercoolers would work better for the track as they are tube and fin.

Look forward to seeing progress on this.

Nice find !
05' Turbo S Cab, that's pretty rare !
Good luck with the build and can't wait for the results.

Thanks guys, Yes there is a sweet spot where the car is still fully a street car. I can drive around many issues and I feel the 600-700 range is oem plus range. I will be staying dual mass as I feel lwfw is really a N/A thing and hurts traction in a high torque car, plus the horrid gearbox chatter the ensues... ESmotors has been doing great things and as we all know the tune is the hardest part of the puzzle with these cars.

18G Billets work great and are very affordable, we have seen mid 600whp on pump gas only with them.

I switched cars on the lift today. I put the turbos on with new check valves. Installed new coils and plugs. Started to get ready to drop the trans for the clutch swap and run the new fuel line. Also need to fab up the inlet piping.

I have those biggest 997 ones. Some mods to brackets and air ducts required, a tight fit.Buut because my car's originally narrowbodied, I'm not sure how that goes in wb car. Most likely easier.
Cores are of very high quality, from English motorsport supplier.

jdexter 06-12-2019 05:24 AM

did you pin the coolant lines? plan on addressing the stock slave? I'd highly rec going to the gt2 setup while the trans is out.
