Exhaust Removal Issue... It's Stuck
I've watched videos/followed directions but I can't seem to get the stock exhaust off of my '01 Turbo. The 4 bolts per turbo have been removed, O2 sensors unplugged, and the straps have been unscrewed and slid to the side. When I try to remove the exhaust, I can slide it about half an inch backwards or lift it up a few inches, but cannot remove it. It appears that the tangs that the straps sit on are hooked on the front side of the heat shield surrounding the mufflers. I can see them sitting on the tangs via the two large access holes in the front side of that subframe bracket (same place where the straps can be slid over). Do I need to unbolt the two large bolts holding that bracket onto the subframe? If so, are there more than the two centrally located bolts?

sounds like straps aren't completely slid over... and DO NOT undo the engine carrier side bolts...

Yea, grab the straps from the outside with long needle nose pliers and give a strong, abrupt pull to the outside, you should hear it pop/release the pressure and then it will drop once the strap clears the bracket. You may have to fight it a bit.

Think I had the same problem years ago. Just couldn't get those damn straps free. I just cut them in half and dropped it.

Cut my straps off too. Next step is toss that POS 50 pound (guess) exhaust in the trash, or recycling haha. It is crazy heavy, big and restrictive. Also makes the Porsche sound like a vacuum cleaner.

Member AAHTT said he weighed his factory exhaust and it was 46 pounds! I was close on guessing. "It's heavy". Are those your lifts? If so, where did you get those spiderman? I want those!!!!
