Any Clutch experts? - photos of my clutch at 31K miles
Any Clutch experts? - photos of my clutch at 31K miles - A few shots, I figure about 40% was left, reverse side had all grooves still extending to outer edge. When I replaced this clutch, I was surprised to find a MAJOR improvement in smoothness and drivability, so I think clutches definitely go through various stages of drivability degradation before actual functional issues - I was very easy on this clutch and drove it all but 4K of the 31K miles.
Very interested in member's opinions about condition vs. my mileage, thanks.

Looks about normal for wear. Do you have a light weight flywheel in there? Can't read the disc, but is that the orginal clutch? The stick disc does not have springs?

The clutch looks about like every other clutch that I have pulled out of twins with this mileage. They do not last very long in these cars. This is the original OEM clutch based on the disc you are showing.

Ended up fixing the oil leak while they were in there! - it was a pressure passage leaking to outside between cam housing and head, it was also getting worse by the week.
Once the grooves are gone (as they are on the edges in photo), are the discs considered to be "worn out?", or do they go by thickness and ignore the grooves? - It seems like the grooves are there for a reason, and once they are worn flat, something changes from a friction standpoint, even though there is still plenty before the rivets. What do you think?
