Winter tips for my 996TT?

Just got my "new" 2001 996TT with 5300 miles on it! I am in Chicago and plan to drive the car all year round. Does anyone have tips on what to do for winter? I spoke with Damon at tire rack and have a set of winter tires picked out, anything else recommended? My car has a set of lower springs on it, should I replace these with the stock ones?

Thanks for all the help!

Put the stock springs back if you have them.

I'd agree with the springs. Otherwise, snow tires and drive it. That's what I do.

Drive it... I'm comfy but no where near rich. I don't understand how one could buy a $130k car, sit on it for 10 years and sell it for less than half of the purchase price w/o ever really enjoy driving it.

Good stuff... Does your car have a clear bra on it?

+1 on the clear bra, I have them on ALL my vehicles and my front ends and rocker panels look perfect. 3M!

I don't have a clear bra, any recommendations as to what to get?

Very much looking forward to driving it all the time. It is an unbelievable car.

As far as winter tires go, any recommendations? Hopefully the stock springs raise the car up a bit, it is really low right now.

HI,I have always driven my car all year around...In the last 3 winters,I always ran all season tires on it...They were 285/35/18 rears and 235/40 18 fronts which gave me alittle higher stance, thus more ground clearance..No problems in mild snow falls...I hope you enjoy getting to drive your new baby year around...

Consider salt if you have plans to keep your car long-term.

Congrats on the purchase!

I really liked my Dunlop WS M3's on my previous Audi.

Shoot me a pm if you are interested in doing a clear bra.
