Scott - email sent! Thanks! :)

Tym - I will tell you, I am VERY impressed with how quickly you shifted the car, truly awesome!!!!!!! As for the Supra, it tipped the scales at 3,420 without driver...I weigh just under 200, so right around 3,610 with driver...

Thanks Peter, but to be completely truthful... every car we prepare is purpose built. The Sledgehammer was built to have the best shift recovery we could provide while being easy to shift at high rates of acceleration and speed. I wasn't kidding about driving the car with steel toe work boots that night, lol! David took the car out last night and it shifts like a champ for him as well. It's all about the combination... I'll take the compliment though! :)

It looks like your car is really into 3rd gear by 60mph where as the Sledgehammer is still coming into full boost. The cars are really moving! The three of us could just run from 120-130... sound good? We can rub mirrors. hilarious

AWESOME data Scott and Tym! It just goes to show you how close and fast these cars are! It also shows you that 850 rwhp in my Supra is right at 850 rwhp (approx) in the P-car....the curves and effectiveness at putting power down are sooooooooo close!

Tym - this 997 is SWEET, if I had more jack ($$$$), I would own that car's twin! :) Maybe one day! :)

i am by no means a professional driver, but if you miss a 3rd to 4th gear shift in the Sledgehammer, you shouldn't be driving the car. i couldn't believe how easy i could hit the gears at redline shifts. just absolutely amazing clutch setup in the car!

Nice comparison Scott.

It would be interesting to see distance covered vs. time in one graph for these three cars, I am sure the results will be surprising. This would tell you how they would be running side by side and who would be ahead.

Scott, I'm sure you can do something like that???? Jean, have you ever driven a 1000 HP car that hooks? I think you'll be surprised at how quickly 4.5xx seconds goes by and the thing you realize is that when 2 1000 HP are running one another, 60-130 is just the START of the race.

I like Scott's 60-100 mph in 2.22 seconds !!

That is insane, Scott!!

I tried graphing it using the P-box software, but the lines are so close together it's illegible. Maybe someone with some real Excel skills can graph it out using the below info.

Anyway, here's how the race would have went down assuming all three cars started nose to nose at 60 mph:

70 mph:
Scott is in the lead, with Peter 4 feet back and Tym 1.5 cars back.

80 mph:
Scott is still in the lead with Peter 3 feet back and Tym 2 and 1/4 cars back.

90 mph:
Scott shifted at 83 mph and Peter takes the lead.
Scott drops 2 car lengths behind Peter and Tym is 8 feet behind Scott.

100 mph:
Peter shifted at 91 mph and Scott takes the lead again. Tym passes Peter.
Peter is 1.5 cars behind Scott and 3/4 cars behind Tym.

110 mph:
Scott is still in the lead, with Peter 2 cars behind Scott. Tym shifted at 106 mph and drops back 4 car lengths behind Scott and 2 car lengths behind Peter.

120 mph:
Scott shifted at 116 mph and Peter takes the lead.
Scott drops 2 car lengths behind Peter and just 1 car length ahead of Tym.

130 mph:
Peter reaches 130 mph first, with Scott just under 2 car lengths behind and Tym 1 car length behind Scott.

Here are the actual mph and distances for each:

Peter
70 - 46.50
80 - 94.06
90 - 159.16
100- 285.80 *Shift at 91 mph
110-385.67
120-504.09
130-653.71

Scott
70 - 42.41
80 - 90.93
90 - 185.77 *Shift at 83 mph
100-264.89
110-358.89
120-532.51 *Shift at 116 mph
130-681.58

Tym
70 - 63.74
80 - 123.51
90 - 191.96
100-273.47
110-418.30 *Shift at 106 mph
120-546.05
130-695.90

Thanks Paulie. I hope things are going well for you, bro.:)

All's well, are you coming to Texas mile?

Nope. Unfortunately I'm in training until next month, and then I leave for a 6-month deployment to Africa (Djibouti) in October. I'll return home in April.

I'll be on shore duty for the next few years after I return home, so I should finally be able to make it down to Texas with some consistency.

PAULIEWALNUTS Sep 5, 2008 04:59 PM

Stay safe.

dk996tt Sep 5, 2008 05:29 PM

but wait, Tym has a trick up his sleeve. As they take off, Tym hits the scramble boost button which gives him an extra 80 - 100 rwhp. And at the end, Tym edges out Peter by a nose! Sorry guys, if Tym knew he was lining up against you guys, he would pull out all the stops! LOL... Anyways, great comparison! Sorry, i just didn't like the ending.
