GT700 - who has changed internals and who hasn't

I have done just about everything but the turbos...question is how necessary is the internal work....I'm probably not going to track much if at all...without the internals upgrade it really isn't too much more $ to get to GT700 land. Has anyone had issues without doing it?

keep an eye on the boost levels and the gas octane you are running with the boost levels.

Marty you are right, however Garret does leave all of the safety features in tact ont he ECU, such as the knock supression etc.. so it won't "allow" you to do any damage like that. But for obvious reasons don't run the race gas file on 87 octane heh... For the street guys the GT700 is/has been fine without internals up to a point (like 60K or so I've seen). In fact, some of the more hardcore track guys have been ok with it too but I'd think you'd have to do a leak down after 30k like that. We've got a couple in the Bay Area that aren't built but do track a lot and they're scheduled to come in for a build/upgraded motor. Once those are apart I can give you guys a report on the pistons, rods, valves, lifters etc....

Alex, knock suppression alone without the TB shutdown feature isnt going to protect the car at 1.5-1.6 bar on pump gas that others have mentioned in other threads will it? Kevin

The throttle body shut-down feature isn't only determined by boost though. That part is certainly "gone around" these days but the knock supression still works based upon pinging, bad gas and so forth Kevin. I'm pretty sure that's the same thing Kevin mantains in his programing and what he really used to like about Garrett's programs from 2003-2006 before he got his.
