Looking for a black 996 turbo, and I've only seen plain "black" in person. Can anyone shed some light on the difference between black, black metallic, and basalt black metallic? Are they really that much different that I should definitely see all 3 in person before deciding?

 

The older black metallic had brown metal flakes so it looked faintly " root beer - like " in certain light. It was best matched with black, savana beige or natural brown interiors. Basalt black metallic replaced it a couple years ago and has blue flakes , so it looks best with black, graphite grey or natural grey interiors.

 

I have Basalt Black (black metallic is Basalt Black) and it is one beautifiull color, basalt is usually just a metallic black (like a greyich black, which is really nice), but when there is a lot of sunlight, there is a hint of purple, which i think enhances the look.
