Resistor for Airbag DELETE
 

Has anyone figured out the resistor needed to allow the removal of the Airbag without getting the light and error on the dash.

Have not done it on a 996TT. For the 993tt it is a 2.8 ohm 1/4 watt..

Very cool! That's what I was looking for. Would is make since that it would be the same on a 996? Is there a way I can check it?

how about removing the bulb behind the airbag error light?

The problem is the readout in the dash still reads an error and you have to clear it everytime you start the car. It would be nice to just make it go away.

hoping someone has done this as i bought a Renown steering wheel i want to put on a 996TT

Waiting for a chime in on this one I just replaced my oem steering wheel to a flat bottomed quick release Momo and lovin it but the dash light is annoying!

A resistor from 2.8 to I believe a 3.2 ish will work fine. To make it all work, you need the following:

On a 996 the horn is also part of the clock spring. You can buy the 964 horn piece from Porsche and I also bought a used clockspring from another 996 911 so I didn't have to cut mine (996, boxster are all the same). You need to solder the resistor inline where the airbag once was. When you install the 964 horn bushing it has a contact so the horn can be pressed and sound off. You need to then add a wire to the back of the control stalk and it will allow the horn to work. Once put back together, everything should work as normal and you should not have an SRS light.

can be a bit of a finicky job to do nicely.
Will lose sight of upper half of some gauges with standard height seats/ typical 350mm wheel

I will be running a 330mm wheel and will eventually upgrade the seats so hopefully i wont have that problem @ 993GT
