Think you are stock and don't need inlets....Check this

I was cutting the inlets to a 996TT to tig them for a larger intake yesterday when I ran across this. Nice casting. What happens to the air flow? What happens when this stuff breaks off!! Yep, to the turbo. Thought a bad BOV was an issue you haven't seen anything until this stuff drops into the compressor wheel. Sheez, save a turbo and change your inlets!

Stephen

Not sure what you’re referring too. Can you explain more?
Thank you J

Ps Where’s the Quality Control from PAG?

The stalactites on the bottom sticking up....that is casting just hanging out inside the pipe. It is very thin and metal and just hanginging in the wind! When then breaks off and it will, the next stop is into the turbo.

Stephen,
How much performance change will you see on a GT2 with ECU and exhaust by putting on the bigger intake pipes? How about adding the bigger intercoolers? Do either give you a 'seat of the pants' change?

PorschePhd Dec 15, 2006 11:11 AM

Yes, you will see about 20TQ and a slight HP gain. The restriction through the inlets necks down to 1/2 inch in areas. It is silly. Then opens back up to 2 inches...DOH.

The intercoolers will not add HP, but they keep the knock count down because they will not heat soak 9 out of 10 runs. The computer sees lower IAT and therefore runs the higher maps programmed. It is a win win. It will not add HP per say but will keep you from loosing it. Aside from that the overall flow of the intercoolers as compared to the stockers flows more than 45% better just through the end tanks. That doesn't include the efficiency factor from the core
