Modded 996TT Clutch / Flywheel Upgrade Options?

I have a 2001 996TT with K24's, AWE tune, Fabspeed exhaust and air intake. The stock 60-130 mph on this car was a slow 12.6. Now with the above listed mods its 9.2 sec.

The car will hold 1.1 bar and i have seen 1.2 and even a flash to 1.3 bar for just a second. It feels really quick. But the stock clutch is not holding the power.

Can anyone suggest to me a nice streetable clutch and flywheel upgrade? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Ultimate Motorwerks has a nice LWFW kit with very smooth engagement...no on-off take-up. I installed one in my car and my wife never even noticed...but ,then again my wife does track the car as well:) . There is some noise associated with the LWFW,but it wasnt a deal breaker for me. Good luck,Kevin

I did an Unorthodox Racing LW flywheel and Spec Stage 3+ clutch. Great combination and did not break the bank. :-)

this is THE set up you want, no other. faster acceleration, lighter. Near normal feel and engagement, no on off. Does give a mechanical "chatter" which we also love!

this is the clutch that I would install. It is all Sachs Motorsports, the pressure plate is rated to at least 850Nm.. RS lightweight flywheel and Sachs organic spring disk.

me too +1 .

Another +1 on Kevin's kit.

Of course Tom's kit is incredible too, but my mortgage guy didn't consider that setup a good enough reason to float a 4th mortgagehilarious

A no-brainer...go with the UMW package.

topgun 01-29-2007 06:20 PM

There's your answer!!! No brainer, UMW!

umw how much????

Check with Steve at Imagine Auto, he also had a clutch that made several forum members happy. Just another option you should check before making a final decision.

how much would the cost be for one of these setups mentioned?

dgreen78 01-29-2007 10:46 PM

BElieve it was 1800-2000 range for the setup but I would PM Kevin to find out....

jrgatfh 01-30-2007 01:19 AM

Thanks Don, Ill definately look into it....I still have the stock clutch which is perfectly fine but I would like something a little bit heavier

evoms.com also has the LWFW and clutch that I have, works well and is easy to drive.
