Tracking the 996TT 18's or 19's

I know the general opinion is the 18's are more than adequate for tracking the TT. I'm looking at the option of going true lightweight 19's with sport cups which will allow a brake upgrade later on. Anyone have experience in tracking the TT with 18's vs 19's?

18s are best. if you want to upgrade your brakes, go with the Brembo GTR kit. they are 8 pistons that will even fit under you OE hollow spoke wheels.

I have tracked with 19 and 18's. My biggest problem was with the 19's the 25 profile in the back the tires really heated up fast and insides wore out very quickly. Although this happens with the 18's the 30 profile gives more of a margin.
I had the same thoughts as you but went back to the 18's. Also tremendous price differences for track tires if you go to 19's and are at the track alot that may be a factor also.
There are several good brake options with will still go with the 18's as mentioned above. The 6 piston GT3's are what I went with.

Agreed. If you are upgrading brakes to improve fade resistance and pedal feel the GTR kit is unbeatable IMHO. I have run a GTR kit on past track cars and they are unreal.

Thanks for your input, most appreciated.

Any recommendations on a stockist for the GTR Brembo's? Whats the expected cost?

thanks in advance.

Most of the vendors on the right can hook you up.

$12K about...

IMHO I would go with the GT3 6 pistons and 2 piece rotors, this is good enough for really any situation and is much more affordable.

Ready for some good news ????

Brembo now has a 14" 6-piston mono-block kit for the 996 TT.
Part # is 1M1.8005
Retail Pricing is only $3495

It's been a highly desired application for a while.
This year we finally have a caliper that makes it possible.

First batch is on order and should be available any day now.
For an authorized dealer nearest you...PM me.

My porsche mechanic told me these where coming. How will they compare to the porsche 6 piston mono-block

I kept my OEM twists for the track and mounted yokos on them. 18s are also a bunch cheaper over time if you go through them quickly:p

It's a much better caliper.
OEM is still OEM. They must meet a very different criteria than what we are allowed in High Performance.

The new caliper is lighter and stiffer.
It utilizes a short annulus pad design for a larger effective radius.
This essentially offers more brake torque with less effort.
Pad volume is still great for extended pad and rotor life.

Viper Bob has some of these on order
1-650-743-6801

After a fair amount of research I decided that this looks like the best
option. It is a direct bolt on, No monkey business required! The GT3 6 Piston Monobloc
is not a direct line-up for our cars; something is slightly off with it ??
