Rain Track Tire Question?
Just wondering what are you guys are using for 18" rain tires on the track for your TT's. I will be using them only for the track in rain conditions. Recommendations please.

Wow. That's pretty hardcore. Good for you!

I run my Michelin Sport Cups so long as there is no standing water...As long as they are hot they work well. Kevin

I've had good luck with Toyo RA-1's full depth I've had good luck with MPS2's or Neova AD07's street tires I've had poor results with MPSC either worn or in standing puddles I haven't tried this, but with recut MPSC's who knows? http://www.zh.com/images/MPSC-rain-recut.pdf

The best for real rain is the Hoosier DOT rain tire.

To see the tire, press the 'C' on that page.

Agreed - but only for a pure wet track...

You can have the MPSC's cut for the rain but I never saw anyone do this. |
Although I have not run the Hoosier rains on my 911TT, I have run them on my M3 racecar. I have found as long as the track doesn't dry they provide excellent grip and wear extermely well. Standing water, wet pavement, damp cool conditions have all been good to the tire. Dry... they are great for about 2 laps :)

The Hoosier R6 (great dry tire) is terrifying in the rain.

Thanks guys for the response. I do as well run on Hoosier R6 they are awesome on the Dry. On the Hoosier DOT rain tire has anyone ran on the 305 rears I think this is to large for rain tires. Most of want I am reading on this subject is to keep them in stock sizes not recommending wider for the rain. I am thinking know of have a pair of Hoosier R6's grooved out. This would keep the size stock.

Who do you use for grooving, or do you do it yourself?
I posted the MPSC grooving pdf, but am looking for a source to do it... As far as sizes, Hoosiers tend to be large for their sizes, so I think you would be correct to go with stock sizes.. IMHO |
