switching k16 to k24's

Question for the experts:

Is switching from k16 turbos to k24's a simple direct bolt on?

Can the previous headers and waste gates be re- used?

Thanks in advance

Sameer

Yes you can use the stock headers and wastegates...but I would suggest porting and polishing the stock headers and adding upgraded wastegate springs!

And of course get your car reflashed.
The K-24's are underrated and can produce very good results.

Good Luck!

No you need new gaskets (Turbo to headers and turbos to cats) and sump oring and drain plug.

I'm 100% positive that there are no gaskets betweeen the turbos and cats. I am pretty sure there is not one between the turbos and headers, and the stainless steel manifold gasket can be reused.

YoI am 100% I just swapped turbos:) They are crush ring gaskets. Come on man don't doubt the DIY:) You did make me doubt myself for 2 seconds.... I thought did I say that right.

OK, I am 100% sure that the statement I made earlier is wrong! I installed exhausts on 2 cars this month and did not see any gaskets. I just now checked the new set of turbos in my garage and sure enough, there is a recessed ring on each turbine opening for a crush ring. Sorry to make you doubt yourself...I bow down to you on this one!

I was told by a Porsche mechanic that the exhaust head to manifold gasket is stainless steel and can be reused. Others have said no...do you recall if it is a layered stainless gasket? If so, it should be reuseable if in good condition.

Boys, boys, boys......make your mothers proud.....Spend some money and use NEW gaskets!! If you don`t have the dough, PM me and I will send you some money

Putting new gaskets on has nothing to do with the question to strart the thread. New gaskets do not change the fact that the new turbos are a simple bolt on. Come on guys.

If he does DIY, this info is directly related, much more so than polishing the headers or upgrading WG springs (see post #2). Go to moderator school before you start policing threads. :)
