What's the minimum recommended temperature for cold start up with 15w??? I may interested in trying swepco 15w-40 for my first change in lieu of factory recommended Mobil 0w-40. What is the main advantage of swepco as compared to mobil???
swepco is synthetic, correct???

Chad, can you give more specifics why s-car-go has chosen to use swepco lubricants for porsche motors... Most of the info on the 306 15w-40 I have found shows it used for more commercial and industrial applications like trucking diesel motors ect. Why is it preferred to mobil for example...Thanks

Interesting thread on oil viscosity selection. From what I understand, the most engine wear occurs at startup(I already knew that). The least honey-like the oil at cold temperature, the faster it is able to pump up and through the motor creating the lubricating film faster than say 10w,15w,20w can, hence less wear. It was interesting to see that the hot viscosity was thicker with 0w-30 than 10w-30 according to test by these Ferrari guys. They recommend going with the manufacturer's spec, which in my case for my motor is 0w-40 Mobil 1. None the less a very interesting topic of discussion...
