I've heard so much of this Z06, can someone please explain what is so great about them? Do they handle well?

Nice photos where were they taken? Looks like somewhere in my neck of the woods.

Best "Bang for the Buck" car out there in terms of performance. The interior is crappy, and it's not a "prestigious" brand, but for the money, it performs admirably on the track and at the strip. In fact, the Z06 beat the NEW Dodge Viper around the Streets of Willow Springs.

Depends on "how" in that respect. In a straight line, the 2002+ (405hp) Z06 will barely pull away from a 996 TT...perhaps 1-2mph faster, but nothing more than that.

It is light (just under 3100lbs), great hp (405), incredible suspension, and good gearing. The car is nothing to scoff at one bit.

I don't think that is true. The gearing and aerodynamics of a TT give it the edge.

Nice, Looks like the commemerative edition LeMans Blue Z06. Sweet ride.

It is, in fact, true. However, the gearing of the TT will shine above 160+mph.

My friend has a bone stock, 2003 Z06. We have done multiple punches (stock vs stock) from 40-150+mph with him barely pulling on me each time. Perhaps a few feet. My car has Bailey diverter valves, so I know that I am holding full, stock boost.

The 405hp Z06 will run the 1/4 mile with a trap speed of 115-117mph. The 996 TT will trap in the 114-116mph range. There is "some" overlap, of course, but typically the Z06 will hold off the TT until it hits its 171-173mph top speed (gearing and aerodynamics issue). At around 150+mph, the TT will begin to pull the Z06.

Interesting... my experience has been the opposite almost exactly. We've done 30 mph and 60 mph and each time I pulled away slightly.

There is no doubt that the two cars are VERY evenly matched. So much so that small differences make the difference; gearing, weight, and power. If the Turbo weighs more than 3480-3500 lbs, or it isn't developing full hp/torque, then the small advantage goes to the Z06. The Z06 also has a gearing advantage in 2nd gear; however, the two cars are basically geared evenly in third, with the Turbo having the advantage in 4-6. A mid to high 3rd gear start gives the turbo the small advantage, all other things being equal. Of course the Turbo has a huge gearing advantage in 1st gear, but now you're dealing with the difference being who's behind the wheel.
