Does the 70mm twin canister work on the 996TT? What is the difference between the single unit and the twin?

John@SpeedTech 12-08-2009 03:34 PM

Yes, the 200 cell, 70mm twin cannister exhaust is for the 996TT.

The single muffler is a modular component, cross-flow design. It has 100 cell hi-flow cats for improved flow and optional cat bypass pipes and muffler bypass pipes that integrate with the system for a variety of off road/track options, such as straight pipes, catless muffler, etc.

It also utilizes our internal "cross-flow" or "X-flow" design, which mixes the two banks of exhaust gases for a unique exotic sound that is absolutely fantastic to the ear. IMHO, the sound of the cross-flow combined with the 100 cell cat derived quick spooling turbo response and the modular adjustability separate it from the conventional exhaust.

In short, the 70mm is a great performing exhaust and sounds very good. It represents a great value for performance and sound.

The cross-flow is the step up - if you are looking for the best and don't mind spending a little more for the additional features and improved sound, the rewards are well worth it.

We have more pictures and videos of both systems on our web site... www.speedtechexhausts.com

Here is a picture that shows the interior cross-flow design. It is a straight through design with no restrictions and available in 2.5" quiet and 3.0" loud versions. If you purchase a 2.5 quiet, the cats and by pass pipes are 3", so if you go to a track configuration for a race or event, you will have a very lightweight, high flowing, full 3" system for those occasions and a quiet every day system. This is my choice and it works out very well to cover all scenarios. Swapping out is just a matter of minutes and very simple to do. I have done it several times and I can go from muffler to straight pipes in 5 minutes.

John, do you have actual dyno charts you can post up on the different exhausts? Would be nice to see the differences. Have you done a dyno day with all of your systems?

John@SpeedTech 12-30-2009 09:52 PM

Don,

Not yet. Just seat of the pants. I went from the 70mm twin cannister design with 200 cell cats to the 100 cell cat cross-flow. I experienced much quicker turbo spool and crisper throttle response at all RPM's, due to the higher flowing cats. That combined with the awesome cross-flow sound was a win-win for me and personally I have never looked back! I love the cross-flow exhaust - it makes my car car more enjoyable than ever to drive due to the improved response and sound characteristics.

How Much are the Exhausts?

I might have missed the pricing, how much is each one.

I'm interested in the 2.5 or the 60, or 70mm. I"m very sensitive to drone in my cabin, which drones less? Do they offer the same power enhancement?

John@SpeedTech 01-06-2010 04:45 PM

If you are sensitive to drone, our 2.5 cross-flow is without doubt, the best choice. It is virtually drone free and provides a very enjoyable atmosphere at all RPM's. I will send you a PM with more information, but in a nutshell, based on your comments above, our X-cellerator 2.5 is the model you should consider.
