Clutch replacement; DIY?

Looked (search terms +clutch+replacement) and was unable to find any results... Are there any DIY instructions for replacing the clutch/flywheel?

Not needing to replace yet though may if I happen upon a good deal on a lightened flywheel...

Thanks. Does not look all that difficult... Albeit the article can I am sure be deceiving but if I can remove and replace a manual transmission in a '03 Jetta and converted a '90 300ZX TT from automatic to manual trans, figure I can handle this.

Now to contemplate that lightweight flywheel....

Hah! I know how you feel... done manyyyy a tranny's including a tiptronic/ 6spd swap into my 01' Jetta. If you did all that, this shouldn't be that hard at all!! ::thumbsup:: for another DIYer

p.s. lightweight flywheels are pure seckz

Do you have a lightweight flywheel on your Pcar? If so, opinion? Extra noise?

Gotta say that the AT>MT swap on the 300ZX TT was easier than the tranny remove/install on the Jetta! Neither was actually "fun" though considering I did them totally by myself

Parts list.. missing anything?

Is there a list of what parts are replaced? i.e. what I need to order?

Here is my list so far, missing anything? Prices below sound about right? Suggestions for different parts (flywheel or clutch kit)

- Porsche Flywheel Torx Bolts (One Time Use Only) PN# 999 073 092 09 (Quantity 8)
- Porsche Torx Case Bolts PN# 999 385 004 09 (Quantity 4)
- Porsche Torx Balance Shaft Cover Bolts PN# 900 385 275 09 (Quantity 3)
- Clutch kit (looking at the Sachs) ~$400
- Flywheel (Fidanza LWFW) ~$400

I don't have a P-car, but I have a LW flywheel on all my other cars, and it has a light chatter at idle but that is normal, you can barely tell it's there if you have an aftermarket exhaust to drone over it. They make a world of difference.

May need a throwout bearing as well.

Indeed but it does not have anywhere at that site (nor any other I can locate) full details, pics, etc. for clutch replacement.

May take pics when I do mine next weekend and post as a DIY article.

Being a VW guy turned Porsche tech i can tell you that this trans r-r is way easier than a VW (you stated you did an 03 jetta). very straight forward and plenty of room to maneuver the trans out. The worst part of the job is bolting the slave back in place, weird angle, espessially if your not on a lift.

Good Luck!!!
