I did it a year ago replaced with 10K and look really good. No faulty code. Mine is deep blue with purple hue.

but why? The only reason could be for the appearance since anything much over 4300k is a downgrade as far as visibility/output/etc.

Close but not close enough. Planet Xenon more like it. I do have a big Tylenol bottle in my car.

I installed the 6000k last month. I wanted more of a white light than the bluish white. You can tell the difference from stock. Makes the stock Xenons looke more like a brownish color.
No fault codes.

we did the 8K on our 996. it has a blueish look to it, and we did the 10K for the boxster which has more of the purple look. no problem with the 996, but for the boxster, we've had a couple of fault codes such as the oil light and the rear wing not working correctly. this was due to a bad ballast. once replaced...all is fine.

good luck!

I put in the 6K, looks nice but sometimes I regret it since visibility isn't as good as the stock 4300. No affliation, but I have had nothing but good experiences with Todd at http://www.retro-solutions.com/oemge6000k8000k.html. He specializes in HID lighting, and the link is to GE (not knock off) bulbs in either 6k or 8k for $110 a pair.

I had Phillips 6000K installed in our CLS headlamp and foglamps. Very bright white with a very slight bluish tint. Great visibilty. A higher Kelvin rating would actually diminish visibility.

Do you mind linking where you bought your HID kit from?

I've tried 6,8,10,12K. Stick with 6K. Anything over and you can't see ****. The 6K is perfect blend of vision & color.
