Who's better in DFW: Boardwalk or Park Place
 

New to the P-cars and was wondering who's running a better service shop between Park Place and Boardwalk. Anyone have any stories or opinions?

Reason being, i'm notice a light scent of burning oil after driving and suspect it might be a RMS. The car is under warranty so i just wanted to find out who does better work. all the same, i'd prefer RUF but i don't think they honor my service agreement.

My neighbor is the service manager at Park Place and their work is great. Boardwalk, imho, will work harder to earn and keep your service though. They are both great shops but my final choice would be Boardwalk.

i just dropped mine off at boardwalk, should get it back on wednesday, i will let you know how it went....

i went up there yesterday and they gave free advice on helping me calibrate the convertible motor i installed myself, so that was pretty nice of them

thanks for the info! do you think they'd try to stick it to me if i had the RMS replaced if i asked them to do the clutch while they were in there? i know that the clutch plate would cost money, but do you think they would try to double charge on the labor?

for something that expensive im sure you could get a verbal quote from both places.....

Both are good and both are expensive. Independent shops might be a better choice if it's your own money. If it's all warranty, you can't go wrong with either dealership.

BTW - a slight burning smell after a drive is totally normal. I'm not saying you don't have an RMS leak, but the odds are against it.

Good to know, i'm new to the P-car ownership so i thought any kind of a slight burned-oil smell was suspicious. it's not too strong, just something i noticed.

as far as the warranty, i have zero deductible EasyCare total care warranty which would cover the RMS. i was just curious how they might handle the clutch replacement while in there since it's not a warranty item, and whether they would just do it and charge me parts.

i know that RUF would handle it that way since i actually spoke with Hans. All the the same i'd prefer those guys did the work, but i dont think they handle EasyCare warranty stuff.

I know the guys at 5th Gear in Lewisville would do the clutch work for you at the same time and charge only for the parts. Rick used to be the main guy at Boardwalk before starting his own Porsche shop a few years back. I don't know about the Easycare warranty work though.

i stand corrected, RUF does do warranty work so i'm pretty sure i'm sticking with that particular group of Germans.
