Pushing the rpm's in a 03 996 C2
In first gear, how high can i push the rpm's before shifting into second without too much of a strain or damage to my engine. i had a 2000 boxster before which i believe is a lot lighter than my 911. The 911 seems slow to me off the line. Maybe i am not pushing it enough in first gear?

6800 rpm, then start shifting to 2nd... these cars are not drag cars and loves to stay at the higher RPM.
|
I think it's more of a perception issue...sometimes I've got my foot to the floor and I'm surprised how quickly I got to an extremely high rate of speed..usually well over the speed limit....
|
to 6800? wow. i've been shifting from 1st to 2nd at around the 3k-4k rpm range.
|
Depends on you mood...Driving agresively - 6800
Normally 2.5 3K...I dont like first gear in my P-car |
using the rev range won't hurt the car, it was designed to be run to the redline
|
If you are shifting @ 3-4000 Rpms then you shud have purchased a Honda you pu$$y.
lol jk- take it to the limit & you will then be able to appreciate a PORSCHE!!! |
for just cruising around town I usually shift around 4k...but when I have a wild hair and feel like Derek Bell I run up to redline....
But most important let the engine warm up completely before hitting above 4k..... My last 911 went 250,000 miles before a engine rebuild. |
