Mystery carbon fiber steering wheel crack

Has anyone had a carbon fiber steering wheel crack? I have a small, ~1cm long crack at the 12 o'clock position. I haven't wrecked, raced or otherwise subjected the wheel to any undue stress. Could the heat do this, or maybe using the wheel as a "handle" to help yourself out of the driver's seat? Not really sure how to fix this little crack but I'd like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience. Any ideas other than to replace it?

If you go on ebay you will see many oem Porsche carbon parts for sale with flaws/cracks/bubbles.
Sounds like a warranty matter to me. Jeff

Whenever we had a crack in our carbon fibre bicycles it was off to the junkyard...you cannot fix it once it goes, sounds like a good warranty test for Porsche !

Good luck

Most of the cracks I have seen are in the poly outside surface not the carbon itself.

Thanks for the input, guys. The crack is indeed in the poly coat only. The deeper fiber is OK. It's a pretty superficial crack but I didn't think they would cover a cosmetic issue like this under warranty. I guess all I can do is try huh?
