Thinking about going retro on wheels...RS ORANGE????

So I have been looking around at a new set of wheels on my black 996 and i know i want to get the 996 gt3 18inch wheels, BUT this time I am highly considering doing them in RS Orange. I have noticed that porsche is using this color a lot now on the new anniversary boxster, the transyberrian cayenne and of course the orange wheels on the new gt3 rs and the old school carrera rs. I figured it would be unique and my buddy has a 997 that is white with red gt3 wheels and he is pushin the orange...any opinions here??? Also what would be the best way to get the exact color match?

Wait.. orange on your black c2?

i don't know man, orange wheels on a black car are a pretty bold styling statement. it will be one of those things where you either love it or hate it. if you can picture in your head and you like it, go for it!

Provide a good side view and ask for a photochop. I think it would look really bad, unless it is a track only car.

Black/Orange... halloween car
How about just doing the lip in orange, face in black?
You should be able to get the color code from the dealer. With that, any paint shop can match it.

On the other hand, orange & black would be a very German color combo. They do some hideous things with their colors....

Red is retro, Orange is the new style ; )

porsche4391 03-13-2008 02:50 PM

haha true...ok well its the new style...i mean i know it would be kinda a either you love it or you dont...and i LOVE the new black/orange rs....i dunno i dont know how to use photoshop or have anyhting like that so i cant really get a good look at it

Sounds like a good idea but you'd also have to put orange somewhere else to balance it out (i.e. mirror housings).

yea i know thats what i was thinking...but i dont want to try and mimic a gt3 rs....cuz i am no gt3 rs lol....what i may do is just get the basic ones and then get them painted later on...after i get all my mods i want to my car
