I've got my sights set on an 04 C4S. MSRP is 96k. Dealer is willing to knock off 4k. With the first 997s being delivered next month...should I get more off?

BTW - this car has the 19" Champion wheels on it...and they look awesome!!

I just took delivery of a new Black 04 C4S with the following options.

P74 - Xenon Headlamp Package
680 - Bose High End Sound Package
446 - Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
342 - Heated Front Seats
P82 - Technic Package
416 - 18-inch GT3 wheel
C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
Y06 - Alum/Lthr Shifter/Brake Handle
XLF - Sport Exhaust System
M6A - Black Mats - Porsche lettering
425 - Rear Window Wiper
Y29 - Aluminum/Chrome X71,X70,X54
P11 - Self-Dim Mirrors & Rain Sensor

Sticker was $93,800 and I paid $89,750. I think the dealer margin is about 12% so there was plenty more room for him to come down but I felt good about it.

Tell him you are considering an 02 Turbo (you should anyways) or you aren't willing to take the big depreciation hit with the new 997's coming and see if you can't squeeze another $1000 or some additional options. (I got window tinting thrown in just for asking.) If he doesn't budge, tell him you need to think about it and start to walk out. Good luck!

I would'nt pay any more than invoice....

Kelly Blue Book is indicating the value of my pristine 2003 C4S with 3000 miles is $60,000!

Dealer today offered me a $108,000 MSRP GT3 for $41,000 + my 2003 C4S (MSRP $90,000).

With resale values the way they are I wouldn't buy new.

Good luck,

John

You can probably do better

on a 96K C4S - I think 6-8K is more like it. However, they will use their usual BS about how hard it is to get either the C4S or the turbo coupes in order to justify holding the price. If you get 6K off, you're probably in the right ballpark.

Or, find a lightly used '03 or '04. The dealer sold my '04 C4S (93K MSRP - 3 months old with 1500 miles on it when I traded it in) to someone for 83.5K

I may have driven the car you are looking at. Seal Gray, with 19" RG97's? Sweet ride, and, before you ask, I was gentle.

With folks reporting incredible, 19K off deals on the anniversary model, I've got to think there's a ton of room on most other cars, well below the numbers you typically deal with on Pcars.

Be sure to look carefully at the Champion wheels. I know one dealer in particular who scratched a friend's set of wheels (Fikses), and the dealer ended up buying the set off this person, only to put them on a Boxster in the showroom, sold to an suspecting purchaser. Hopefully these wheels are clean. I'd also be concerned about not having the stock wheels, and about resale with aftermarket wheels. But that's just me.

BTW, I think those particular champions look horrible off the car, but look absolutely hot on the car. I may buy a set as well. Good luck.

the sticker on mine was in the same range...options are in my signature..i bought brand new in 2003 of a 2003 model

I got 9k off msrp and was happy with my purchase... out the door price on my vehicle came out to $105 so i took a big depreciation hit but i'd rather buy new than used. Also, i don't really plan on selling my Porsche so resell values is not a concern for me. Some people like to feel their car has value, but i know how much i paid for mine and i know what it's worth to me!

hope this helps.... good luck

I would say that you should get about 8-10k off your vehicle, since the 05's are coming out in a month and the new body is also coming along. Best of luck.

pdutta, you should be able to get the car for invoice. At that price, the dealer still makes good money and with the new 997's demand is low for the 996 right now. Just talk to the head manager. A car dealership in california was advertising invoice prices for NA996.

Isn't Porsche carrying over the 996-based TT and C4S for 2005? If so, I'm betting you can't get nearly the deal on a 2004 C4S as you can on a C2, particularly including the Anniversary Edition, since the C4S replacement is still a bit down the road.

I just bought an '04 C4S

The MSRP was a little over $92K, and I paid $85K. I think $7K is pretty much what you should be getting off.

i say your crazy. i'd wait till next month and get a c2s. maybe if you were buying a GT or TT i would go for it, but a regular NA car. forget it. it will be dated, just get the 997.

pdutta, let us know what you are going to do. If I were you, find out invoice price and walk in with a check for invoice! I have done it many times even with porsche dealerships. My friends bought a c4s for invoice. They will always try to hassle you for more money but tell them another dealership will do it for invoice and I am sure they will take the money. Dan
