Hi everyone,
I've been lurking around this forum for awhile, finally decided to join. I'm attaching some pics of the car. As of now the car is still stock, but I intend to convert it to a track car soon. The only thing I've done so far is strip out the interior a bit, plus shed spare tire. Managed to drop about 70 pounds from that(bose speaker removal, rear seat removal, rear sound deadening removal, spare tire removal). My K&N aircharger should be coming soon. Despite what I've read on the forums, I've decided to try a crack at it. My car is MY02, so hopefully the MAF won't cause any issues . Also on order is the 997 short shifter kit and clear side indicator.

Some questions: Right now, I have the shift boot taken out in preparation for the short shifter installation. My question is if it is bad idea to drive the car around without the leather boot? I'd imagine dust particles could make their way into the mechanism a bit easier, but would this really be a problem? I like the naked look, and also I tore up the boot a bit when I took it out, and don't particularly want to spend 100 for a new one. In addition, does anyone know where I can get less expensive shift knobs that fit the 996/997 shift mechanism? The only ones I see are 200-300 dollars.

Thanks!

Congrat's on the 4S! Let us know how the K&N works out! I've been debating on this one for sometime!

Silver C4S rocks:D

Try a Crown Royal bag to keep out the dust for daily drives. You can take it off for track day.hilarious

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the words of welcome. I just realized it, but I probably should have been more clear. I've owned the car since 2002 and have been tracking it as it is. It's just recently that I've been thinking about making it a track only car. waipahu, that boot would definitely work, but I'd still need a knob to go with it. Does the one in the pic work? If so, how much is it and where can I buy it?

Also, just finished installing the K&M unit. As many have said, the instructions were abysmal. I got a bolt stuck in the rubber unit that acts as the base for the hose holder. In the end, I had to cut out the bolt and epoxy the rubber piece to the main board, all because I couldn't figure out which screw was needed. Well anyway, took it for a spin, and it sounds awesome. No CEL light so far, but we'll see how it goes. Also, can anyone confirm this for me: It says in the manual that inserting the 90 degree piece into the hose & drilling into the hose is for tiptronic cars... so my manual won't need drilling? This seems like a big difference between the two.

Future plans for upgrades:
Sparco Evo racing seats,
Full roll cage
R compound tires/lightweight wheels
Misha GT2 spoiler
JIC cross competition coilovers
Fire extinguisher kit
Anything else I should do?

Thanks!
