Where to look for some good used 996's?

Hey all,
I'm sure this has probably been addressed before but I couldn't come up with a good search string to find an answer. I am currently in the market for an 02-03 carrera 2 and have been looking daily on autotrader.com, cars.com, and the classifieds here and the other 2 forums. I'm going to take my time and make sure I get the car I really want (black with black or tan interior and aero-kit) at the price I want because I know it is possible if I look/wait long enough. That being said, are there any other places to actively search? Any sites that list dealership cars?

Thanks everyone, hopefully my search won't take too much longer!

I think you've about covered the bases. My only advice is to not limit your search area to 100 miles or so. If you widen it somewhat you'll stand a better chance of finding what you're looking for. And be patient, these cars weren't produced like Honda's. There's only so many for sale at a given time.

Thanks for the quick reply, deckman. I am definitely considering cars all over the US. My philosophy is that this will be a major purchase for me, and I'm not on a time crunch, so I might as well wait for my perfect car. I've been a "car guy" since I was five years old so I know once I get my first Porsche, it will probably become my obsession for years to come. That being said, anyone have any leads on 02-03 Black Carrera coupes with non-gray interior priced anywhere from $30-38k? Thanks!

C4S for sure i would think.

Don't rule out the ebay, I bought mine there for a decent price... More importantly, it was exactly what I was looking for. Drove about 600 miles home with it when I bought it.

NOLA, did you buy your car a few months back from someone in Florida? If so, I remember that car on eBay; it was/is Beautiful!

NOLA911 Jun 30, 2008 06:17 PM

Sure did man, Miami. I appreciate it.

The thing about ebay is that you have to treat it as a lead, and dont pay for anything until you know for sure it is what it was supposed to be. I flew to Houston last weekend for a BMW x3 for the wife and it looked like hell. I had to sleep in the airport to get a flight the next morning.

My 2 porsche deals were perfect, but I guess it is a different breed of owner.

Patience is key my friend, I was starting to get frustrated and almost made a impulse buy twice, I was thinking may as well, close enough or i'll learn to like it (right options, wrong color) I have been searching for two years and still have not found the car that makes me :) and meets my criteria.

When you do find one, sleep on it, if the attraction is still there the next day, than you may be onto something.

What about the Black 02 listed in the classifeds, no GT3 wing, but i think it has everything else you are looking for, cant remember the members sig, but car looks clean and well cared for.

Good Luck, David

I bought my last two from Porsche.com > preowned search. It searches all the Porsche dealerships and there are some for good prices. Plus most are pre certified :)

What's wrong with gray supple leather? It's the best with black! :D
Super clean 2002 C2, priced to move, lots of expensive upgrades and desirable factory options. :D -g/l with your search, patience pays off!

Yea I've been trying the Porsche.com site for a few months and it seems to never be working. It would be ideal to find one that fit my needs that was CPO, but if not, I plan on an aftermarket warranty anyway.

Any other sites/places you all can recommend that I add to my search? Thanks!

Not been working? Try this direct link http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/usa/clients.search_std?sid_=627755535EC3C443509C44E420 B9966&sflg_=

P.com does a pop-up for their seach and if you have a pop-up blocker on - it will cause havoc. Also, when you are in the search/results window - always use their buttons for navagation [edit search] [new search] etc. If you use your back button in the browser - you again will have problems

And for other sites, you can use http://www.theaircooledguys.com/ A buddy of mine at work used them for his 03 and had a great experience. Basically you tell them what you want and they will get it for you. If you look at their inventory - you can tell they know what they know their cars.
