Help, Trunk won't open!!
Hey guys, my trunk sounds like it is trying to open when I hit the switch but it will not release. I have been having trouble with it the last month or so. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have things in there I need to get out. Is there a manual overide next to taking a hammer to it(**&#%!!!)?
Thanks, Mike |
Try the manual release located in the door jam on the passenger side, right beside the upper hinge. Pull it out and the hood should release.

I had the same problem a couple of week ago. I basically pressed down on the hood like I was giving CPR chest compressions while I had my son hit the release button. I guess you could hit the release on your remote as well. Then search for hood release adjustment procedure. |
You are right, that is the fuel door release, the manual release is behind the passenger headlight, you can get to it by partially removing the right front fender liner, or if your lucky can fish it out from behind the headlight with a hooked wire, but you are kind of shooting in the dark, especially if its fallen down as it is usually taped up to the body.

I did a search and one answer was to drive it around the block which I did and it opened but when I closed it, it would not open again. So does this mean I need a new part or need to grease the release or what. I tried to find the cable behind the head light and no go on that.
Thanks, Mike |
It may need to be replaced but more than likely it probably just needs adjusting.
There is a very good procedure for this on R'tech by Viper501. |
The bonnet release cable is located behind the rear passenger headlight housing and is accessible by slipping your hand behind the inner fender liner of the front side of the passenger tire......at least that is where mine is.

Thanks, Mike when i had this problem the only solution was to pull up on the hood with a coat hanger or something protected with towels, while someone is pulling up on the manual release. the springloaded device fails because the metal coil gets old and comes out of place. |
