Best place to start searching for a C4s?

Hey guys just checking in. I am new to the whole P-car world but I have a soft spot for the 996 c4s. I am going to be looking for one in a couple months and since this is my first time buying a car I need some help. It seems like I will have to open my search around the whole country in order to get what I want. I'm looking for a stock/tastefully modified 02-04 C4s in arctic silver or black. Mileage around 50k is fine. I'm looking to allocate around 40k for this purchase. When the time comes I will be in no hurry so i will most likely take a little while to find one. In your past experiences where are the best places to source the car? Dealer/Autotrader/Ebay/Forums?

The classifieds right here are a great place to start!

Also check autotrader and cars.com.

Be patient and you will find the perfect car. I found mine in Miami.

Check back with me in a couple months, I may be ready. I've got just what the Dr. ordered with 38k miles.

Also try Porsche.com for dealer search of CPO cars.

Your car is exactly what I've had my eye out for. My first choice is an Arctic Silver. I will keep in touch since I am in no hurry and would much rather wait for a car that is maintained to a standard that I would keep it in.

I searched through porsche.com and didn't really find anything. I might drive up to Champion Porsche and see what they can source. Although I would much rather purchase a car from a forum member who cares about his car.

The first manual I drove was my uncles 2002 996tt in seal grey. I was 16 and had my DL for about a month. He let me take it on the highway. I have always had a thing for porsche since then. I've waited for a while and now that I'm done with college and have settled into a great job I think the time is right to buy one. I have a feeling you want more than I am willing to pay. I have to budget to buy a house too :P

Also I can't PM yet... post count is too low

I used cars.com and local Craigslists. As you will see, these cars are more affordable over 40k miles. The larger services are 30k and 60k with smaller ones at 15k and 45k. My local dealer quoted me worst case around $600 for my upcoming 45k. Just FYI. Also, certainly get a CPO / ext warranty with the car, or buy one afterwards... It saved me almost a G within 6 weeks of ownership.

Good luck.

There's also a member selling his C4S in the Parts FS section, he has an ad up selling his RSS plenum.

Ben - Selling?? What are you getting next?

Benjamin Choi 09-03-2008 11:42 AM

no idea bud. that's why it's kind of. :)

There is one in Fort Lauderdale and by the pics it's taken right on the canal going through Downtown where I live. The only problem is that they are asking 55K. For that I would just get a turbo. I think I'm just going to wait until I can pick up a clean one for 40K. I'm in no hurry and will wait for the "one".

I can just imagine the phone call:
me - "Hi I'm local and interested in looking at your c4s"
him - "Sure when can you stop by to see it"
me - "I'm free after 6, oh btw will you take 40K"
him - click... dialtone

found mine on craigslist. The only other worth candidates I also found on craigslist...the dealers ask far too much IMO

I just looked and he was asking 56k now 51k. Plus he has his dogs all over the interior in the pics .

Ben - Car is very nice but more than I want to spend. I am going to wait until I can get one at 40k. Plus is yours a NB and not a c4s?
