Anyone with a 6sp C4S in San Diego?
 

Am trying to determine if the heavy feel of the TT coupe (vs. my C2 cab) is the weight or AWD. Since the C4S coupe weighs in the same as my C2 cab, a short drive in a C4S coupe ought to clairify it. TIA

Have you considered looking into picking up a lightly-used TT, doing the engine and suspension mods you want, and also having a cabriolet mod done?

Reason I ask is I remember that a friend around 1990 had two Testarossas...one of which he had modified into a convertible. I think he used a place in LA which had done the mod on another Testarossa for a Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial, or some such thing.

No way I'd want an aftermarket cab job done. It would be one way to get a MUCH lighter cab though but most def at the expense of safety.

I have driven C4 Cabs, C2's and a C4S (I own a C4S) and the C4's are definitely heavier in the front. I personally like that. A friend of mine also drove these cars and he liked the C2, finding the C4's felt too heavy. It is a matter of personal preference.

I saw a report somewhere that the C4S made it around the Nurbringring 4 seconds faster than the C2, so the added weight is made up for by the wider track, tires and suspension set up.

I wouldn't touch a convertible mod with a 10 foot pole. Not only is safety something to consider, but what about the rigidity of the body. The car was made to have the rigid roof top, without it comes much body flex which equals squeaks, rattles and moans!!! Plus, I would be afraid of leaks later on down the road.

Thanks Scott, but I've decided to just get the TT cab instead. If after a year or two the enjoyment isn't there, I'll just get a 2nd year 997 which looks to have a track similar to the widebodies, but will be lighter.
