...actually, can't depress the clutch. Woke up yesterday and cannot put any weight on my left foot. Don't recall injuring it. Maybe I sprained my ankle while sleepwalking or something. I am hobbling around on a cane. And driving my wife's Xterra (ugh) since the Benz is in the shop. Any MDs on the list?

You should go to see a physician ASAP! There could be many thing wrong and I would not be comfortable with an internet diagnosis. It's your body not your Porsche.

Sounds like a neuropraxia (compressed nerve), have your family doc check you out.
That is just one possibility, see your doc or local ER, the forum is great for car advice.......not your health.

...I have an appointment with my ortho guy on Friday. I kind of suspected a focal neuro problem since there was no trauma. It's a royal pain walking everywhere with a cane; hopefully recovery will be as spontaneous as the onset was. Getting older is a *****...meanwhile, I get to drive a four cylinder Xterra! What fun.

...my ortho guy last Friday said perhaps compressed nerve, perhaps stress fracture. Nothing showed on x rays. Today, a week later from initial pain, able to walk w/o cane, shift my 911 fairly gingerly, and swelling diminished with Aleve twice a day. Still walking with a limp, but getting there I suppose. I have a follow up appt for three weeks out, and if there is still pain, he will order a bone scan. But I think I may be on the road to recovery. In any event, it feels better just being able to drive a clutch again...so thanks for the response earlier.

...expect it to be even better when my X74 suspension is installed this afternoon at the local dealership. Should lower it about an inch or so. Not thrilled with the $25k in depreciation that I've had in eight months, but I try not to think about that too much. I intend to keep the car for a decade anyway. But the $10k trunk money promotion Porsche started in August to clear the inventory of these cars for the 997 really killed us early buyers. But as a driver, it's the most fun I've had in a 911 since my old turbo. I still think X74 and PSE should have been OEM. Now with these two mods, I'm basically done with the car.

i'd vote gout also. did your dr. do a uric acid test?
