1999 996 Cab Convertible top won't latch
 

Need assistance

My 996 convertible top operated perfectly but this week when attempting to put up top it would go through normal process latching on to the windshield but immediately releases from the windshield and attempts to relatch to windshield mount without success. It does seem to completely lock down but correctly but will not finish cycle releasing and attempting over and over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just had the same exact thing happen to our 03 - The top would latch, immediately unlatch rather than raise the windows, and repeat the process. It turned out that the latch had somehow become misaligned, and it took out the microswitch that controls the mechanism. It was fixed under warranty, but the Porsche dealer blew through a few microswitches before figuring out that the latch itself was the culprit that ultimately caused the problem.

I had the same problem on that hook that comes out it is coated in plastic one day it cracked off and wouldnt latch right so i just glued it back on and havent had anymore problems yet......
