Will RMS get progressively worse?

I've got a RMS leak. Again....

Will it ever get to the point to where it's pouring out? I don't mind adding oil once in a while. Right now it's just drips on the garage floor resulting in a tiny puddle (around the size of a half dollar).

I don't know why this is so difficult for Porsche to fix...

Mother is infamous around these parts
Just keep an eye on it and refill when it needs it, the seal is not under pressure. There is a chance that it will get worse over time and then use Luis recommendation, but you can just use the GT3 RMS "seal" in reverse that is supposed to work/maybe.

Hi DD,

I let mine go for several months and about 10k miles as it slowly progressed from a occasional spot, to a regular drip, then finally an occasional quarter-half dollar size spot (not overnight - 3-7 days, I drive it regularly). I threw a small piece of cardboard under the car each time I put it back in the garage to keep a close eye on it. I ran it had and did a few DE's during that time. Running it hard did not seem to have any dramatic influence (no drop in oil level, no increase in "spot" under car, no realtime drips at events or hard mountain runs).

At 83K miles, I decided to make the fix. The car had the original clutch, so it seemed like combining the two services made me feel the proactive maintenance was worth the cost.

Most techs I asked about it said that the seepage would likely get worse over time, but that it was unlikely to just "blow" or completely fail at once.

An RMS leak isn't really a very big deal until it becomes obvious it's a bad leak. The IMS seal on the other hand is what you might worry about. The problem is they are right above and below each other so you don't know if it's the RMS or the IMS or both that are leaking until you remove the transmission. At that point you have effectively paid for a fix. It could be nothing more than an annoyance that you need to keep an eye on or it could be worse. There is no way to know unless you take action.

Hmmm. Taking action costs $$$

I still have the stock clutch in the car and I've got 37K miles at this point. And it's supercharged.

I was kind of hoping to wait it out till the clutch fails and then do both at once. Maybe throw in a LWFW while they're in there

I had it tech'd before my DE a couple weeks ago. The tech didn't seem overly concerned. It still bugs me that this had been fixed twice already and it's leaking again.

I reset the trip meter yesterday to track oil consumption from this point forward. I added a quart yesterday. That was the first oil I've put in the car since my last change and I've done 2 DE's in between. Sounds reasonable considering. I guess we'll see what happens.

Do these ever let go to the point where they start gushing oil?
