Don't feel as much power anymore
 

It could just be me, but I've been noticing lately I don't get as much power or torque in my engine anymore. I did some searching but couldn't find anything on the subject. I am coming up on 60K in a few thousand miles and read that the 60K service includes replacement of spark plugs (and coil packs perhaps). My uneducated guess is that replacing those is going to help. Are there things to have looked at that might be an immediate and most likely cause of this, should I go ahead with my 60K inspection prematurely? - Thanks !

What kind of mods do you have? CAI? Exhaust? And stop putting in 87 octane (if you are)! lol ;)

Change your plugs, but you may also need to buy 2 coil packs, mine had cracks in the plastic, these are the 2 that get hottest at the back of the engine.

I know that they reformulate the gas for winter in some cities. If they add more ethanol, that could have an effect? Ethanol has less BTUs and unless you modify the engine to take advantage of the advantage of more timing and higher compression it is tolerant of (and less gas mileage), it will produce less hp.

I have seen others complain of the winter gas formulas in CA, at some of my other car forums.

In modern cars, changing plugs usually won't make a measurable difference @ 60-100k, based on my experiences. With lead-free gas and modern fuel injection, I've seen plugs with 100k look almost new. And no difference when replaced. On the other hand in the old days, leaded gas and carburators could foul plugs in no time. Replacing every 10k wasn't unusual in many cars. (and a huge difference)

You know when you feel your car is not fast anymore, its time to upgrade to something faster :D

Roughly how much should I expect to pay for plugs and coils? Can a tech tell if I need new ones without opening it up?

No mods, 93 octane gas always.
