I can't stand my headlights

I am one of the unfortunate 996 owners that have the amber front headlights without the option of performing surgery to remove them. I have already spent $8k in the last 3 weeks on exterior mods and I can’t stomach to spend $750+ on a set of clear lights. Does anyone either have a set for a reasonable amount of money or has anyone thought of a cheaper option?

You might want to try a body shop they could remove the amber for you for a good price around your area.

Use VHT niteshades on it and make it black

I'm excited to see where that $8K went :)

I am interested to see where the money went :)

I have the exact same problem only went a different direction. I cheated and started making things match the amber lights, haha.

That's how I have it on my black boxster but I don't think it'll look good on a silver car.

Keep an eye on Ebay. You see lights there on a regular basis. Just wait for a bargain. You could also check with some of the wreckers.

I am in the same boat, 99 with non removable amber. I hate my car because of it. No seriously I want to punch my car because of it. :D

So wait that means it can be made clear. How?

Why don't you guys smoke that part of the light? mI'm sure that would make it less visible?

I’m so excited to get my car out from the body shop this weekend, I had them smoke the taillights, suspension work (Springs and Shocks), Evo front Bumper, GT2 Rockers, Turbo Rear Bumper, GT2 Wing, 19” Wheels, Painted interior trim pieces Silver, Turbo Tips, Double Din Navi Unit but with ugly a$$ headlights.

If anyone has smoked the amber out I would love to see how it looks.

Here is another option for you. This worked for me when I had my 996 and wanted to get rid of all the hidious amber. I asked my favorite porsche dealer who did all of their bodywork. My service manager offered this to me. He and I then contacted the body shop and asked them if they would like a complete set of 996 lights front, rear and sides. They did want them and we asked them if they would swap out mine for any other sets they had on the shelf that were amberless. They had several on the shelf. we came to a mutual $$$ amt that made sense for both of us and the deal was done.

I got tired of waiting for ebay.....sets.
