Oil in Coolant
Well this SUCKS.... I've only had my '00 996 C2 for just under 2 months and now I just realized that I have oil in my coolant which is never a good sign.
*So does this mean rebuild? *how do I isolate what the problem is? *And does any one know of any reputable mechanic in San Antonio, TX or nearby areas? |
It sounds like a head gasket. You need to have the coolant system pressure tested ASAP.
|
It could be a lot of things, including:
- head gasket - intermix - cylinder header - cylinder sleeve Whether a rebuild is in order will depend on what the issue is. |
|
thanks grant, Dharn was the 1st person I contacted yesterday.
|
Could be a head gasket, but if it is it will be the first one I have heard of personally, and I have talked with a lot of owners with the intermix. I still believe that the most common source is the cracked cylinder head, but I might be biased.
|
we can all guess - i would do a pressure test and a leak down and see what you're up against.

Looking for a shop in So. Cal to fix Intermix. Does that require a full rebuild or just fixing the cracked head. 2000 C2 95,000miles. IMS Retrofit done, New Fly heel, Clutch and 90 k mile service done less then a year ago. Pancake batter in Reservoir. No coolant on dip stick... Car ran perfect all the way home. Haven't moved it since.. I was looking for a place that could pull the engine and get to the heads. And clean out the cooling system. Thanks .....

Have them check the oil coolers as well.
