Doing my first oil change on this car. [which oil 0w40 or 5w40]
I'm not sure which to use. Mobil 1 0w40 or 5w40. I live in California, the temperature is aroun 50F-80F degrees. I'm not knowledgeable about oil weight.
Thanks |
my shop uses 0 40 in my car.
but I would have others weigh in too. |
also, I am in so cal.
|
Same as above, I'm in socal too
|
Go 5-40 W, 0 is just to thin for our climate in CA IMO.
|
How many quarts?
|
9 if you drain it all, and leave your yourself time and get it level for it all to come out.
But add the last 1/2 quart over time, take time to read your stick as well and check your display and see where you at, it varies. However I would use and trust the stick as my final reading for accurate indicator. Last, don't overfill:). |
I use 5W40 in central FL.
|
There are many discussions about this on various boards. My mechanic, who races Porsches, recommends Motul 5w40, and that's good enough for me.
|
5w40 Syntec
|
Pentosin 5W40.

Castrol Edge Formula 10W 60.
All german tuners use that oil in their Pcars. Especially when u live in Cali u dont need a 0W oil. Greetings from Hamburg |
If this is really your very first time changing oil in your "P" car, I feel I must mention the little issue of the size of your drain pan...
The pan must be able to capture about 8 liters of oil within 2 seconds because that's how long it takes to empty the whole thing and if you are using "standard" oil draining hardware, you will become a member of the "Valdez" club. This is not a joke! |
