Trunk light problem

I just noticed that my trunk light would not turn on when I open it, unless I pop open the engine compartment as well. And as soon as I close the engine compartment, the trunk (front) light turns off. Is this right ? I never recall having this problem before. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks.

I guess I am in a little trouble too, as I didn't know I had a trunk light.

But my hood light works when lights are on.

My trunk light works intermittently. I pop the unit out at the driver side wheel well area, and give the bulb a spin. Works for me every time. It could be the bulb or a loose connection. I have three vehicles to maintain. And, this issue is last on my DIY list. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I finally figured out my problem. The hood latch connection is a bit off. So it didnt know the hood(trunk) was open when it was. I had to flip the latch across a couple of times when it was open and the light came back on.
