Focal 100 CA1, will they fit?
Hi,
I own a 1999 C2 Cabriolet and I bought 4x Focal 100CA1 to replace the dash and rear speakers. From what I read before, they are supposed to fit, but now that I took the OEM speakers out, I don't really see that happening.
I didn't take out the front speakers yet, but I noticed that in the rear, the depth is very limited. Not only are the 100CA1 about half an inch deeper than the OEM speakers, but the tweeter also sticks out about an inch.
How do people mount these speakers? I was about to execute this technique, but I don't think it will work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0LPyCoq5k8
Should I go with a different set of speakers? What do you recommend in the same quality range?
Thanks a lot!
Carl

Well well well! Great news!
I gave it a shot and found out that the 100CA1 actually **DO** fit in the dash (quite well actually) but are a little bit too deep for the rear, unfortunately. (about 1/2" too deep)
They are great speakers for the money. I still have the rear speakers out of the car but so far, the 13KS in the doors and the 100CA1 in the dash make hell of a difference over stock speakers. Even if I'm missing 2 channels.
Next step for me is to change the rear speakers and the OEM head unit.
EDIT: To clarify, this is for a 1999 C2 Cabriolet. I suspect that the 100CA1 might fit in the real of a non-cabriolet car because I think it's the roof mechanism that's in the way of the speaker.
