C4S rear conversion

Is it possible to retrofit the red stripe that runs across the rear decklid and "connects" both tails lamps from C4S to a targa , lets say? How is this mounted?

The c4s decklid is actually recessed so that the reflector is flush with the tail lights. There was a thread somewhere out there that showed a guy molding one into his non-4s decklid but I think other than fabrication the only option is some cheesy reflective sticker.

You can do anything if you're willing to spend the money. The decklid is totally different for the C4S, so it would be a custom fabrication. It wouldn't be cheap.

So, the decklid itself wouldnt be able to bolt on to a targa? is it wider? ( wide body) ?

I've seen that other guy. I believe he did it on his turbo. Same tail lights as the c4s and wide body.

Bring it back to life....So on ebay , among many trunk lids, i noticed 2 lids that have differences. One of them has the motorized wing surrounded by lid all around, and on the other lid, the wing has "open" space to body at the rear window( as in regular carrera). Somebody care to elaborate? Did anybody actually try to fit the C4S lid on to careera, Physically ( not rumors, please). i am awaiting measurements from a seller to verify this.

It's not just the decklid that's different but also the taillights, they have a raised rib running horizontally along the edge (between the red and clear lens).
This same "raised profile is reflected in the decklid allowing for a smooth transition between the decklid and taillight surface.

I did changed my C4S declkid for a turbo one, which was a real pita but easier than the conversion you're looking to do

Good luck though, let us know if it works out!

Yeah I found that difference too. The lights profiling to the reflector. New years I'm picking up a c4s deck lid , and I'll take it from there. From what I researched so far, you can do the swap without any body work, but you will need to get tail lights from c4s. All the measurements on the outside are the same.

Good luck with it. Please let us see photos when you get the conversion done.

Thanks!
Actually I painted the reflector black before I ended up putting the turbo decklid (see pics).

I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to discus a sale out side of the classified section but pm me if your interested in making an offer on the decklid and painted reflector (you'd have to sand the black paint off and clear-coat it), it also still has the electrical motor, "harmonica" (for the "wing" part) and metal separation liner.
The wiring harness and lettering (C4S badge) is missing though.

Cheers,

Sid.

edit, Oh yeah you'd also need to get the extra brakelight for when the "wing" is up.

OK, update:

After my "honey moon" in Canada and 1700miles of travelling, I picked up 2 C4S decks. Quick test fit on my Targa, and.........it should fit. It sodesnt matter that the body is wider, its only pulled on the fenders. Deck is the same width!!!! Its not wider!!! Retractable spoiler is the same size too. Only difference between C4S deck and C2/C4 is the reflector.

Will keep you posted.
