Current market for pre-owned 996's

I'm needing to sell my 2002 996 C4 Cab pretty soon. How's the market for 996's these days with the new 991 now out? What avenues have people had success advertising their cars for sale?

Just as an observer. I picked up my 2002 996 with 17k miles almost 2 years ago. The pricing has essentially held since. I paid $32k and ones of similar spec/mileage still go for that today. The 991 didn't cause the 996 MKII to plummet by any means. Totally different buyer pool and there are always people that want to "sample" a Porsche. Meaning they would put down $25-$35k to get the Porsche experience at 1/3rd the price of a loaded 991, knowing full well they can unload the used one at minimal loss.

As for where to advertise it, I'd personally try forums, autotrader and craigslist. I almost always get a baseline price from carmax and a dealership or two. (Just so you know what the worst case scenario is). Always detail it to nearly new condition and have a carfax ready too.

Thanks for the perspective. I've had this car for over 6 years. It still brings a smile to my face when the next series of curves is ahead. But it's time for a new car and there is no more room in the garage.

Sounds like good advise, indeed. With the X74 suspension and a Fabspeed exhaust, however, I know that the pool of interested buyers will be more limited.

Sorry but there isn't any "market". It is totally location/timing dependent. If you have to sell it, put it up for sale. Your car, your price, your location, the competition for that car in your area and the timing is all that matters - and all that you can control.
