PSM & ABS light (no LED's)
Heya,
So I am hoping someone can offer some insight here... I have a 2000 996 C4 coupe tiptronic. In the last week my ABS & PSM lights will come on. I do not have LED tails installed (or anywhere else actually), it does not happen when I hit the brake, it only happens when I turn on my running lights (first position on the switch). My MAF is good, the car throws no codes whatsoever, and when I restart the car the lights turn off. If I drive with them on my cruise control does not work either. Through searching I have seen that it could be a bad brake switch, but that will trigger when you engage the brakes. LED tails or some other LED item, or a bad MAF. I have none of these things. I am wondering if maybe it is a fuse? the only thing is the lights and such do work. Any help or ideas would be appreciated Thanks much |
From the symptoms you provided it sounds like a faulty brake light switch. This switch can be the source of many problems, including inoperative cruise control, brake lights not coming on, or brake lights staying on all the time.

Thanks,
I did replace the brake switch as well as the MAF just to eliminate those possibilities. Same symtoms.... PSM & ABS lights appear as soon as I turn on running lights. I can hit the brake lights all day long and no failures. Cruise control also will not work in this state. I checked every fuse (all of them yes) and all seem ok. I have searched and searched on this site and many others and have not found anything else. Does anyone have any other ideas other than my car is haunted ? |
Solved thanks
