see video and let me know what yall think! coolant alll over my garage. water pump maybe? hopefully not a blown gasket:mad:

It looks like a water pump from the video, A blown gasket would tend to come from ether the left or right side of the engine.

That's what i was thinking.. at first I was hoping for just leaky tubes. But the motor was smoking wayy too bad for just that. I can replace the water pump myself so I'll start with that today and hopefully that'll do it. Thanks! and i'll let you know

When i pour tap water into coolant tank it leaks right out the bottom.. right out of the water pump it looks like

That's because your tank has dry rot cracks most likely.

Just replaced my water pump. It was dripping coolant, not pouring out like yours. Seems like something else.

Dripping or pouring or squirting out can all be waterpump- just different levels of failure!

this is probably gonna be a cheap fix- replace waterpump, hoses & you will be fine! no big deal i bet!

most likely the coolant expansion tank.. i would check that out first before the water pump... cheap fix...

Good ideas above. Personally, I would have a pressure test done FIRST to pinpoint the source or cause of the leak. Then spend to fix.
P.S. However, I have read that "related" components be replaced at the same time (e.g. WP, t-stat, tank, hoses/fittings)

996 coolant reservoir tanks can crack and was in a TSB years ago. Not every car has had it replaced. Thankfully the replacement tank is a cheap part and doesn't crack as easily. Search here and Rennlist. Hopefully that's all it is. It's definitely dramatic when they fail - my car spewed plumes of smoke all the way to the office parking lot when mine went - somewhat embarrassing, but what can you do?

Did you get a better chance to pin point where the leak was coming from this weekend ?

This, or a dry rotted or damage lower hose.

Sounds like a water pump. Not a bad DIY job.
