Factory X74 Kit or PSS9's for 2002 C2 ???
I want a significant improvement in handling and firmness but its still going to a be street car and I'd rather not have to constantly adjust my suspension between spirited road driving and hard track laps if i didn't have to.....but i'm willing to sacrifice it if the PSS9's at THAT much better than the all-out factory X74 Kit (with bigger stabilizers and all)
Feedback from people who owned both or ridden in both would be appreciate or anyone who has direct experience with the Full X74 kit on their C2's (I've heard this factory performance suspension is real good*)....thanks! |
based on ur need i'd say X74, but keep in mind that if u want it to be comfortable than stock sometimes PSS-9 will give u the power to do so.

Adjusting the PSS9s takes about 15 minutes tops.

I have the X74 and love it. You will not believe the difference in the handling from factory, car is just plain AWESOME now !!! I personally like the idea of staying with a Porsche part , as far as the ride quality,it is for sure much firmer, but by no means harsh. :D |

Both are good, I have the PSS9 and the ride quality is smoother than stock and when I want, I can firm it up in minutes. no alignment is needed as long as ride height isnt adjusted. It also gives you the ability to have it as low as you want not what they thought at the factory. If its not low enough, drop it more, if its too low, raise it up....its up to you.

Do you guys know of the cheapest place to purchase the whole Factory X74 Kit (w the bigger stabilizers) ?? And how much should it kit run/cost $$ ?? Thanks...

X74 is an excellent choice as it gives car better handling charactistics (IMO) than the PSS9's. Only drawback is the adjustability is not there for ride height etc. Note that the X74 package is firm but not harsh at all, and is specifically dialled in for a C2. Unless you are an expert in racing - most people are not able to setup their suspensions correctly to give them a dialled in car. With suspensions that are adjustable - the average Joe (ie..me etc) does not have the time to really sort these types out. Let the Porsche engineers do the work for you - Ride Height, Damping Rates, Spring Rates etc get quite complicated for a dialled in setup. Get the X74 fitted and just drive away and you will be guaranteed an excellent handling vehicle..:D Not sure about pricing in the US but I ended up purchasing mine from Gert at Carnewal - excellent service! |
Thank you very much for that reply...and it makes good sense* I will definitely be going with the X74 kit....I'm just wondering are there any retailers/wholesalers that have a special and/or really good pricing on this package right now ?? (as I'm ready to order asap) :)

Unless you are going to tweek it all the time get the X74. If clearance is a problem get the ROW 030. FYI: everytime you raise or lower the car with PSS9 you need an aligment, so setting the ride hight unless you track/adjust it often is a one time thing for most people.
I just put my ROW030 in yesterday... Wow what a difference. My decision was based on my car being a daily driver and my very inclined driveway. While not as low as some here would like it's pretty damn good and when I put some spacers on the tires will fill out the wheel wells pretty nicely. So more on the suspension, which uses the same sway bars as the X74, and I think is as stiff, but not as low.... The front no-longer floats above 120 at all. This was improved when I put the GT3 bumper and RS splitter, not it's gone completely. When cornering the rear seems much more planted and is calling on me to go faster. It's just a completely different car. Now I need to go drive a PASM equipped car in sport back to back for comparision. I just can't see how PASM in sport can be as good as what this feels like, but then again with a touch of a button it can be a nice floaty suspension for NYC rides and mine can't. Anyway good luck with the decision.... |
X74 is very low and from what I hear you will be scraping.... PSS9 gives you your choice of ride height and damping... that could make a big difference - plus lifetime warranty on bilstein shocks.

I think you can now get PSS9's for cheaper than X74 if you shop carefully.....To me its a no brainer....PSS9 if its cheaper.

The X74 is not that low, its lower than M030 but not slammed.
If you are running the GT3 nose and splitter, you will scrape a fair amount, without the splitter, or with a 996 nose you will not scrape at all. What it does for the handling of the car far out weighs any concern for scraping on steep driveways,etc. I drive my car far more often now since I did the suspension upgrade, because it has taken the Porsche experience to a whole new level for me,Do It you will not regret it. :D |
