2003 996 C4S Gearbox vs 996tt Gearbox
 

Hi, I'm trying to identify my gearbox without getting the car up on a rack because I want to put a WaveTrac LSD in it.

I contacted WaveTrac's tech support to see which LSD to purchase and the person who responded told me that my gearbox takes part number 40.309.160WK which corresponds to:
G50: 911 1987-88, 930 5spd 1989>, 964, 993, 968
996: GT2, GT3, turbo 6MT rear
997: GT2, GT3, turbo 6MT rear

This puzzles me because I have not been able to get a straight answer anywhere on whether or not the C4S and the 996TT share the same gearbox. I have heard it both ways.

Do I have a G96/31 or a G96/50 or?

My C4S is a 2003 that has been converted to RWD. If anyone could shed some light on this, I would appreciate it!

The n/a 996 and turbo have different gearboxes.

White Out is right, the 996 Turbo has a different tranny.
