Classic Radio

Anyone installed the new Porsche Classic Radio w/nav in a 996?

Yes, actually quite a few, but bear in mind, the Porsche Classic radio is not intended for MOST based systems. It will work with the older analog based systems.

I did a search but nothing came up. Are you saying it works with early cars or mods are required?

thank you

Yes, it can work with cars prior to 2003. In 2003, Porsche introduced the MOST based digital systems. The Porsche classic radio was intended for cars older than the 996, but I've seen many install them on their 996 cars.

Mods needed? It depends on your particular system. Is it base, HIFI, or Bose system? What is the factory head unit being used?

Yep, people have been very happy with Continental radios in the Porsche because of their orange LED backlighting and flat black OEM design. But you must remember Continental units do NOT offer the same pre-amp output as the Becker. CDR-220 units and so you have to convert the speaker level output with an adapter.
