996 A/C won't cool
Hi all, So this is a 1999 996 Carrera 4. The A/C heating works, but not the cooling..All good until a few months ago. Porsche garage in Spain diagnosed and suggested to change the entire A/C..Condensator, Compressor housing, the whole lot.. Quoting 2700 € plus tax just for the work..6,460€ total (7,500 $ approx)..Question..in your experience is this massive cost necessary or is there a less expensive likely culprit that tends to fail?
Thanks for any advice. |
Wow not a single response..is this forum dead then?

Yes and no. Take it to another place and get a second opinion, a place that specializes on A/C and heating. Also get part numbers from the invoice and look up the parts. I know the charging of the A/C is not a cheap job. And that might need to be done by the porsche shop.

I have one of these great to DIY possible leak locations I had a slow leak in a 996 turned out to be a leaking shader valve a cheap fix
