Help with 1999 996 Radio

The radio in my 996 no longer works and I need suggestions on what to replace it with and where to find a replacement without going to the dealer. My first thought was BOSE, but I can't find anything. Help!

Crutchfield use to sell the Harmon Kardon branded Becker radio thats the same as CDR220. Also there is the HK Traffic Pro which has some navigation capabilities....Both would be cheaper than a dealer replacement...

I have an early 99 that came w/ a CDR-210...bought a CDR-220 off of ebay for about $100 (really good deal)...then sold that and bought a Harmon Kardon Traffic Pro (same as the Porsche Traffic Pro) for about $300. Each one swapped in no problem, has the factory look and was cheaper than ripping out your whole system and replacing everything. With the right tool, it takes about 5 minutes to swap factory stereos.

go aftermarket, unless you are strictly after maintaining your "stock" look.

double din or flip out monitor would be sweet.

The factory headunits suck! Your radio going out is probably the best thing that could have happened to you. The first thing I did when I got by '01 996 cab was replace the headunit. You would not believe the sound improvement by just replacing that POS. Then I went nuts and got the Reus system.

Arrow

Or you could get one of these. VDO Dayton RS 4150 MS, which has all the functions you need + GPS. Single DIN unit, has yellow lighting, looks stock and fits right in.
I´ve had one in my -99 for about two years and I´m happy.

Don´t know about availability or prices in the US, so you´ll have to do a search.

My son went with an Eclipse unit in his 99 996 (later totaled) with Alpine speakers; JBL subs and an Alpine Amp. Nice clear sound, to much base (I am old man Jerry....)

The Becker units are actually quite high end. If you want the stock look and a great head unit, take a look at the Becker Online Pro. It's pricey, but has great sound quality and a nice look, imho. I believe it's the unit shipping it Ferraris these days, but I could be mistaken. A friend of mine is in the GPS development and testing department at Becker and brings home some interesting things now and again.

It´s the only info I´ve found in Internet about this unit but no pics at all

I´m looking for a OEM style radio for my 964 C4 and this unit it´s available nowaday.
VDO Dayton and Parrot rki8400 looks great in old models.

Trying to decide which option would be better.
