C2 vs C4 Handling

Hey guys just wondering, I have a C2 Cab and my buddy has a C4S Cab that C4S handles like crazyyyy, he took me for a ride one day and man we were going on onramps doing like 90 mph and nothing no tire screetch nothing. That same on ramp.. when my car had 18s I went around 75 on that ramp and mine was fine. Just wondering how close is the C2 to the C4S in the handling category. Anyone know the stats of the g for the two cars. Thanks

they are pretty close....the C4 is more stable, much harder to break lose, and will feel more planted....to some thats a plus, to others thats a minus, just depends on what you want....the C4S had wider rubber than your C2, so take that into consideration....Also the C4S has a sport tuned suspension....if I recall correctly.

Yes, the C4S has the Turbo's suspension (and brakes).
It's wider and run 295's on the rears, and of course, all 4 wheels working to stay put. The first time I ever drove mine, I was simply amazed, and impressed.

2006 997 C4S has 305's on the rear. Mine does. Even more rubber on the road. I have a 2006 997 C4S with 305's. Rides on rails

aside from the steering c2 and c4 drive the same, for the regular Joe, one wont be able to tell the two (no offense to the joes out there)

I have a 2001 C4 with PSS9s and H&R sway bars and PS2 265 front and 295 rears. I can tell you one thing that eveyone that I have let drive it was impressed by how fast the car is through turns, even the C2 guys that had simular set-ups GT3 sway bars with TGR drops. I think the "average joe" would like the C4 better it's a more positive feel with the road, JMHO!

I agree....The C4 handles AMAZINGLY well...Its very stable, and when cornering...A stock C4 will have more understeer, but with PSS9's, sway bars, and alignment, thats all gone...and the AWD system is AMAZING...so you get more cornering grip....

Yea just like you guys are saying the C4S is AMAZING on the curves. Before I got my C2 and had my E46 M3 I told my buddy their cant be a better handling car than this C4S. I would hate to get behind the wheel of a 997 C4S

Unfortunately I drove a 997 Targa 4s......I can confirm that BONE STOCK it outhandles a modded 996...at least on my simple drive...where on my car, I know the 4wd system is there and I can feel it doing things, good things, the 997 does them without me feeling it doing anything.....it was pretty amazing...and the 3.8L engine was NICE....

Excellence magazine had an article in the 12/02 issue on the 9964S comparing it to the C2 and said the it was about 4 sec faster around Nurburgring.

"[T]he Carrera 4S lapped the Nurburgring in less time than the faster-accelerating and more slippery standard Carrera could. Admittedly, the difference with the factory's test driver behind the wheel was just over four seconds over 14 miles, but there's more to the story. The C4S instills so much more confidence that we're certain the C4S would handily show its taillights to lesser Carreras in the hands of an average driver down the same stretch of road or track."

This is nice to hear some test data to prove my butt! I got a lot of grief from other Porsche folks for going with the C4 and not the C2 a "real" Porsche, even at a DE event. Afterwards same people had many compliments as to how smooth (fast) the car was through the turns!

newport996 04-29-2007 08:19 AM

Well the reason people go with the C2 are weight advantages....less weight, same hp, faster....to even it out make sure all C2's have a passenger...lol...also a C2 can get sideways alot more easily and some equate that with fun, sliding the rear out here and there...may not be faster, but some think its fun...and in that department the C4 is ALL business, it fights the rear coming around with everything its got....that to me is fun....lol

C4S rules and kicks Carrera ass!!! http://smiliesftw.com/x/2oho.gif
