Help installing part from X74 suspension

Can anyone tell me how to install these two parts or where they go at least?

Adam mentioned they had something to do with the tail lights.

Thanks!

Sorry I couldn't be more specific on that one, as I had my dealer run the part number and look it up in their computer.

Adam I ended up installing it myself. It wasn't that hard and I couldn't digest paying $1100-$1600 for it. Only problem of course is I don't know how to install these parts.

I got a .pdf from Loren over at renntech.org but I still can't determine how or where they go with respect to the tail lights.

I have the same stuff... uninstalled but yes they are supposed to go somewhere in the tail light area. I plan on pulling them out and looking around... but I can't be of much more help then that.

Hey Jenner,

If you don't find out by Friday, I'll pull my tail lights and figure out where the reinforcements were installed. I'll take pictures and post them so that you can install them.

Thanks guys that would be great!

You need to remove the tail lights. There is a bolt inside the engine area that you can loosen and the lights slip out. You will then see two other small bolts attached to the side of the engine on one side and tail light on the other side. Thes brackets go on the taillight side of the frame. If you look at the contour of the bracket, it's pretty easy to determine how they fit in. The top of the bracket is curved to fit the contour of the frame.

Everyone thanks for your help!

DaveMo, your instructions were perfect, but how dumb do I feel now that I saw how simple it was! One bolt and two torx! LOL!

Anyhow THANKS!

Don't feel bad - I had to contact Gert at Carnewal and ask him the same thing.....

OK. Got mine installed too. Thanks for the directions.

Does anyone know what those have to do with the X74 suspension? I don't have a clue.

I would guess that the X74's transmit additional forces to the body and these little braces provide additional rigidity - Probably someone with a Cray 9000 supercompter had to figure this one out.......

Sorry for bumping such and old post, but I am trying to find oout if the x74 setup will work on a cab.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sure does, got it on mine and love it for the most part. Great on the track and not so much on DC streets. Stiffer, but rides better as the floatiness of the US suspension goes away.
