KW Variant 3's getting installed Saturday!

1 Attachment(s)
Dan at Vivid hooked me up on a set of KW3's to replace my beta-test AP coilovers. The AP's were actually very good and quite enjoyable to drive on. But, they need a bit of redesign in the valving and front top mount and it was deemed that they should come off the car for now.
This is something that AP plans to tackle in the near future, and I think they are on to something really good especially if they end up pricing in the PSS9 / HR range.

The KW3's showed up about a day after ordering through Dan (fast!).
These are some sick looking coilovers, everything screams quality on them, even the box they came in is high quality.

Getting installed on Saturday and can't wait to see how they ride-

A scan of the KW3 manual / instructions is attached at bottom of this post- They even give you specific recommended settings for your pcar. Nice!

CO's

Do they come with camber plates and pillow-ball mounts? I don't see them...if not, how come you did not go with JIC for the same money but with the above mentioned items? Just wondering, not trying to give you any buyers remorse.

Nice setup

Nice setup

If I were going mostly track I might have considered the Cross setup-
But most of my driving is street, and the KW's offer a better street ride from what I have researched and experienced first-hand.
The JIC's do ride nice but they are noticeably bumpier on the street than the KW's.
Also, the KW's are 3-way adjustable which is probably more than I need but is cool nonetheless.

Just my prefs I guess- I don't think i'll be dissapointed. I'm sure I also would have been happy with the JICs and 7/10.
One key deciding factor was time- The JIC's are still on order at the distribution center and the KW's were more readily available.

fyi I have heard nothing but rave reviews of the KW3's both on and off track-
Here's one 6speed thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=54804

It seems though that KW doesn't have much of a USA following but are strong in Germany / Europe.
IIRC the record-holding street registered car on the 'Ring is running KW's.

I'll report back how they work for me.

KW3's - first impressions:

Wow Wow Wow! These coilovers ride better than I could have imagined. Firmness of a race spring but is not harsh on the street. Sharp bumps are muted and taken up by the high-speed bump feature excellently. My car feels completely different and way more sure-footed.

Before, the ride was sketchy at 100. Briefly got her up to 125 today, way rock solid and no washiness. The ride on crappy streets is superb.

I don't know how KW pulled of this combination of smooth street ride while maintaining performance-flatness in corners, but it works. No more bump steer either.
Only way I can maybe describe it is a combination of PSS9 nice ride combined with Cross performance.
I have the fronts / rears set to "neutral" for a week to let them break in, will get them dialed in and car aligned next weekend.

Anyone considering a good set of coilovers should really give the KW's fair consideration, I am truly impressed!!
I'm doing nothing but driving tomorrow... :)
